Code of Conduct

Welcome to Lambda Center! Lambda Center is a Texas Non-Profit Corporation chartered “To provide a Meeting Place for Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon and Crystal Meth Anonymous twelve step Groups identifying themselves primarily as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and/or Trans gender” and “To attract and welcome newcomers to Lambda Center Groups and to encourage interest in Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon and Crystal Meth Anonymous twelve step Programs.”

All visitors, members and employees of Lambda Center are to be treated with dignity and respect while on Lambda Center property. In order to create a healthy recovery environment for all attending activities on Lambda Center property, this Code of Conduct applies to everyone while on Lambda Center Property:

Lambda Center’s Primary Purposes Always Takes Precedence Over Any Other Activity:

“Social functions or meetings other than Lambda Center Group meetings shall not interfere with any individual Lambda Center Group meeting, unless so approved by the Lambda Center Group’s conscience consent. Lambda Center Group meetings take precedence over any other function!”

The Following Activities Are Not Allowed On Lambda Center Property:

  1. Lambda Center Groups are not to be disturbed by any other activity in the Center; individuals outside the meeting rooms are asked to keep any noise, including conversational noise, to a minimum level. Audio from any device (including portable radios, computers, music players, televisions, cell phones, other electronic devices, or musical instruments) are to be off during meetings. Television video may be on in the lounge, provided the audio is muted during the meeting.
  2. Physically or verbally threatening or harassing any person in any way, including staring and stalking.
  3. Using sexually explicit language, obscene gestures or racial, religious or ethnic slurs that are likely to upset or disturb the peace of staff, members or visitors of Lambda Center.
  4. Engaging in sexual behavior.
  5. Defacing, damaging, or destroying property of Lambda Center, its members or visitors.
  6. Possession, use, or sale of alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons or contraband.
  7. Soliciting, for any purpose, including asking for money, contributions or donations unless such activity has been approved by the Board of Directors.
  8. Assembling for the purpose of disturbing the public peace.
  9. Committing any unlawful act.
  10. Shaving or bathing in the rest rooms.
  11. Fighting, disrupting other activities, or in any other way creating a disturbance which is disruptive or dangerous to others, the designated activities or the business of operating Lambda Center.
  12. Running, skating, roller blading, skateboarding, or otherwise obstructing or interfering with the free flow of pedestrian traffic. Bicycles are only allowed inside the building with prior authorization from Lambda Center.
  13. Throwing, discarding, or depositing any paper, glass or other matter of any kind except in designated trash receptacles.
  14. Failing to be fully clothed or wearing apparel that is likely to provoke a disturbance or embroil other groups or the general public in open conflict.
  15. Use of camera equipment in meeting areas unless such activity has been approved by Lambda Center.
  16. Smoking inside of the building. Smoking outside of the building within 10 feet of any entrance to the building.
  17. Sleeping.
  18. Leaving unattended personal belongings or possessions without prior authorization from Lambda Center.
  19. Using Lambda Center facilities for other than their intended purpose.
  20. Bringing animals onto Lambda Center property, with the exception of service animals in the company of, and trained to assist, people with disabilities.

Use of the Lambda Center facilities is a privilege and not a right; individuals who cannot or will not comply with the Code of Conduct will be denied access to Lambda Center.

Lambda Center is committed to respecting and honoring the diversity found in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans gender communities, including the right of individuals to self identify their gender. Many people do not have a traditionally male or female appearance and have experienced harassment in rest rooms outside of Lambda Center. We ask everyone to respect the right of others to use the rest room of their choice. If you have concerns about the use of the rest rooms or your experience within them please report your concerns to the Board of Directors.
